A Workshop on Helping Survivors to Heal from Sexual Trauma: An Attachment Approach

Description:

According to the National Sexual Violence Resource Center, 81% of women and 43% of men report experiencing some form of sexual harassment and/or assault in their lifetime. Therefore, a therapist is likely to work with clients who are survivors of sexual trauma. Yet many therapists are uncomfortable and unsure of how to help clients work through these traumatic experiences.  This workshop will address the skills necessary to accompany clients on their healing journey.

The workshop will be led by Reena Bernards, LCMFT, an experienced attachment-based therapist in the field, as well as Donna Jenson, an author and national leader in the sexual abuse survivor community. The focus will be on how to work with clients in the different stages of therapy, including assessment, psychoeducation, beginning of self-awareness, deepening the experience and consolidating gains.  The workshop will include techniques of grounding, mindfulness, and using writing as a tool in healing.  Finally, the workshop will address therapist self-care to prevent the effect of secondary traumatization.

This is an intermediate program for all mental health professionals.

**There will be a maximum of 25 participants so register early!
