Effectively Identifying, Integrating, and Incorporating Spiritual Values in the Counseling Relationship by Jared Pingleton, PsyD

Description:

This presentation will emphasize the vital but rarely addressed spiritual and religious value system of the psychotherapy client. Although over twenty years ago the APA mandated that a client's spirituality be acknowledged and explored, few therapists are trained to know how to do that. Specific theoretical constructs, clinical tools, psychospiritual dynamics, and community resources will be introduced to help the therapist effectively understand and support their clients' spirituality.

This is an advanced program for all mental health professionals.

Learning Objectives:

  • Attendees will be able to identify and describe four fundamental presuppositions when addressing a client's spirituality

  • Attendees will be empowered to describe key spiritual values of their clients

  • Attendees will be provided with clear theoretical paradigms within which to understand and facilitate their clients' spiritual development
